History of Company
 
Richard C. "Cory" Porter III, is the fourth generation to lead his family owned and operated automotive sales and service company.  The Porter Auto Group has proudly served the local Newark area since 1925, which was founded 84 years ago.  Originally known as Wilmington Auto Sales and located in Wilmington, Delaware,  was one of the nation's first Chevrolet / Buick franchises in the country.  Founded by John F. Porter, and after tremendous success, a second location was established in Newark, Delaware which currently excels as Porter Chevrolet / Hyundai.  
 

Through the years,  the Porter family has acquired and operated as many as fifteen different dealerships representing Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota within the tri-state area. Today, the Porter Automotive Group represents six franchises including Chevrolet, Hyundai, Nissan, Infiniti, Ford and Mitsubishi all located within the city of Newark, Delaware.

The Porter Auto Group also provides the local Newark area with three separate Pre-Owned lots that at any given time offer a phenomenal selection of high quality, hand selected, competitively priced pre-owned vehicles.  We pride ourselves on marketing a vehicle that is "top quality."  Our reputation for finding and offering vehicles that are in excellent condition, exceptionally rare, one-owner and low miles, especially performance cars like the Corvette and Mustang, have given us the opportunity to sell and ship our vehicles world-wide. 

With years of committment and dedication to the business, the community and the employees, the Porter Auto Group has earned the award of "Best in Business" for 2007 and 2008. 

Our automotive group also provides two "state of the art" Collision Repair Centers that are both located in Newark, Delaware that can accomodate any vehicle repair. We are an accredited and preferred repair center for most insurance companies including GEICO, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide and State Farm.
