Cobra Jet is not a new name in any Ford household. In fact, it is over 40 years old! Back in 1968 Bob Tasca pushed Ford to offer the 428 in a Mustang body. Today, Ford is combining the hot, newly refreshed Mustang body style with proven Cobra Jet capabilities and will produce only fifty for the 2010 model year. The 2010 Cobra Jet, dubbed FR500CJ, will be a turn-key factory drag car built to compete in NHRA, NMRA, PSCA and several other drag racing series. NHRA rules state that Ford needs to build at least 50 cars in order for the car to be eligible for certain events. The new Cobra Jet will come completely race-ready with a 425hp motor, 10 point roll cage and drag slicks.
